Arietta took part in the Don Valley Festival last weekend. She performed in the complete beginners category and won with her two pieces. Congratulations to her!

One of our students had a successful day on March 16th at The Robin Hood Music and Drama Festival at Hill House School. Lillia entered the Piano 'up to grade 5' category and came 1st place amongst stiff competition. She received glowing comments from the adjudicator. 
Lillia also came 2nd in the woodwind category 'up to grade 5' category where she gave great performances on Clarinet. We look forward to what Lillia will achieve next. :-)

This month, we have awarded student of the month to Paul, one of our violinists. 
Paul has been with us since August 2021. He has had an exceptional run of success since being here. He passed grade 1 with distinction in March 2022, then later that same year passed grade 3 with distinction. He is currently working towards grade 6.
Paul has competed in the Don Valley Festival twice and won first prize both times. He gives outstanding performances in our concerts, and is an inspiration to our younger violin players.
Paul's success can be attributed to his vast amounts of practice time at home, and his determined nature, always picking apart his own performances. He also does a lot of his own research at home without teacher guidance. We are looking forward to his future performances.

Well done to Sharon for getting student of the month for January. She has been with us for a year now, and her progression since then has been very impressive. She has gone from beginner piano to a grade 1 level, and is handling new techniques well. We like that Sharon will update us on progress by sending videos of herself practicing, showing dedication throughout the week.
We are also thrilled that Sharon took part in our Christmas concert, her first experience playing in front of an audience. It goes to show that its never too late to start learning an instrument!

Well done to Leo who worked very hard on Piano in December, to be awarded student of the month. In the Christmas concert Leo performed brilliantly. Leo is a very conscientious student, in all lessons Leo completes his tasks and always does his homework. He has been with us for just over a year, in that year Leo has completed two Concerts and a master class, he will be going for his ABRSM grade 1 exam in June. 

    Well done to Inaya for passing her grade 2 flute exam with a Merit this December!

We are happy to award Emily student of the month for November. Emily has been here since January 2023 as a complete beginner on piano. What she has achieved in her time here is astounding, embarking on grade 1 level, she'll be ready to take the exam next year. 
Emily is very studious in the lessons, gives 100% at all times and is always looking to broaden her knowledge. She loves theory and her sight reading is excellent.
Emily practices very well and never disappoints with her pieces in the lesson. This means we are constantly learning new things, this explains why Emily has progressed very quickly. She also takes part in singing lessons here as well.

​We are delighted to award Reuben student of the month for October. Rueben has been with us since May, 2023 and within that time he has become more confident in playing front of others. He is an inquisitive student, always keen to learn more. 

Over the last month Rueben's sight-reading, scales and use of dynamics has improved so much, due to lots of practice at home and working hard in the lessons. He also attended our master class where he opted to be first to perform in front of the group and put his hand up to answer most of the questions. 
Rueben also performed very well in our summer concert which was his first performance and in January will prepare for his grade 2 exam in June. looking forward to what he can achieve next year. 

We are delighted to award Maria student of the month for September. She has been with us since September 2022, but had taken violin lessons for a brief time previously. She achieved a high merit in her grade 1 exam in the summer.
Maria has been consistent ever since she has started with us. In the lessons Maria works very hard, listens well, and is inquisitive. She is always looking to perform her best. She has recently been given a new theory book and is doing lots at home without prompting. She always plays through the homework sightreading exercises she is set, and works efficiently on her pieces.
Maria has been working on her posture, previously had problems with stiff shoulders and head dropping down. As we can see from the video she has succeeded in relaxing her body posture. For all these reasons, the student of the month is well deserved.

The certificates have finally arrived from the autumn exam entries. We are very pleased that we have a hat-trick of distinctions.

All three students have worked extremely hard to get these results and we are very proud!
